Rubber & Latex Dispersion Applications for Attritors
Latex dispersions, whether natural or synthetic, are used in a wide range of applications, including:
- Paint pigment
- Adhesives
- Coatings
- Products like latex gloves
The dispersions must be wet milled with other ingredients to achieve the blending and particle size reduction needed for these applications.
Rubber dispersions, start as a solvent-based slurry, in which the rubber is dissolved and then combined with other compounds like pigments to create a thick, honey-like pre-mix. The pre-mix is then used as the base to create any number of industrial and consumer rubber products.
One processing concern with rubber and latex dispersions is maintaining the proper temperature. Because of their jacketed tanks, Attritors are particularly well-suited to meet this challenge.
Union Process’s wet grinding batch Attritor is used to mill latex and rubber dispersions.
