Union Process’ New Side Load Tank Makes Fibrous Material Milling Sustainable

Akron, Ohio – Union Process announced the completion of an SD50, non-explosion proof side-loading tank, designed for the continuous dry milling of fibrous materials.

Union Process sales manager, Chuck Major, says, “This mill’s unique design is the first of its kind.” The side-loading tank and special augers keep pressure on the fiberglass down to the grinders, making milling easier, more efficient, and sustainable for the customer.

The Attritor is powered by a 75 HP, totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC), inverter-duty motor. The 460/3PH/60Hz variable frequency drive (VDR) has a NEMA 4X 12 controller enclosure and the LCD Human Interface Module (HIM) is programmed to display agitator RPM and motor HP.

The grinding tank is stainless steel and jacketed, with the side inlet flange to accommodate material loading. The agitator shaft and arms are tool steel straight arms. The system is completed with a reinforced, two-piece stainless-steel cover with a floating Teflon shaft seal, which includes an access port and vent connection.
